Great nifty tool!
I discovered his great nifty tool.
great for mass renaming a lot of files in a folder.
or for adding a prefix/suffix, whatever you want.
The tool had a whole load of more possibilities.
And one of the great things, its even be added to the right mouse click, so no need to browse again in the tool if your already in the right folder.
You really would like to check it out. Its free for download Here
Thank you for the creator(s) of this tool!
and a screenshot here:

Revit 2012 Journal files
Please dont use this trick if you are unsure what you are doing.
Somehow it seems that in Revit 2012 not always the journal files get deleted as you might want it to.
Over time this will make the folder with the journal files pretty big, so you might want it to be automatically cleaned.
so here is a small trick.
open a text editor (i prefer to use Notepad ++ ) and write the following:
Here you put in the parameter USERNAME (so you replace the d.van.wettum) with the correct name for your path, and change the part "Autodesk Revit Structure 2012" depending on your revit version (Structure/MEP/Architecture)
Example file can be downloaded Here
Please note that the folder "users" is a hidden folder on some systems, and may also be shown with a different name depending on the languish of the computer, you might want to write it down manual in the navigation bar.
although it might display different when browsing windows, the "users" folder should work
The /p behind the lines makes sure it will prompt for confirmation if your sure to delete the file.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU DELETE TROUGH A BATCH FILE. DELETED FILES WILL NOT GO TO TRASH BIN. GONE = GONE
**use at your own risk, if you by accident delete more files i can not be held responsible.**
Save the code as a .bat file. If you run it, it will clean your journal folder.
(whats the use of these journal files anyway i wonder, besides checking them in rare cases once revit has crashed...)
Make it automatic run
There are 2 ways of making it run automatically. The first one (A) is to put the batch file in in the start->Startup folder.
Right click startup and "open location" to be able to copy the batch file into it. now it will run automatically every time the computer boots.
The Second method is (B)trough windows task. This will give you some more options like: once a week, or with specific triggers, and so on.
In win7 this can be found by hitting the start and writing "task" and you'll see pop it up in the list. again, different languish settings will need a different search term to be able to bring you to the right menu.
Once you opened the task setting, in the right menu you can add a new task. For the actions you just select the batch file, everything else you can customize to you likings.

Stronghold 3, another setback.
well what a bummer.
it seemed like 7Sixty made promises that firefly did not know of.
in the last news we reported about 7Sixty wrote about they gonne release a big patch in November bringing new content for the game.
but now it seems that on the firefly forums itself they told me they knew nothing about such a patch.
well, it seems stronghold 3 was just a waste of 12 hours of true will to push on, and 50 euro's.
well, take it this way, for a big attraction park you also pay this kind of money and there you stand a lot of time just in a line.
still the though sucks..
one of the bigges thing that keeps bothering me is the fact the tey forgot to give a range bonus for terrain heights. Its so essential in a RTS medieval game to have elements like this. But nothing is less true, in the current state the game is in, it does not matter if your archer fired downwards from a 100 foot cliff or shoots upwards. (check in the download section for stronghold 3 the test map "shooting range")
I guess they must have thought that building fortresses, castles and strongholds back in the old days on top of cliffs and hills was just for the good view.
will check back Stronghold 3 in about 6 months, they might been able to patch it at that time to some decent level.
Good thing is, Anno 2070 is out too and at first release seems 99% bugfree!
will post more on that later on

Stronghold 3 Released
Stronghold 3 was release about a week ago (aprox 21-10-2011)
currently the game has a whole load of bugs that needs patching/fixing.
Firefly/7Sixty have promised in a e-mail that in November they will release a big patch fixing most of the problems, plus will add new content.
till that day, they will release some smaller patches to fix some of the important issues first.
well, i am curious how this November patch will be... we will see..
till that time, playing SH3 will be low on my list.

Anno 2070 English forums are now open!
because of lots of requests by the users, Ubi has now opened a English speaking forum part for the upcoming Anno 2070 release.
probably because in the passed there was no real support for English, the English part is now not very much used (YET) but my guess is that that will chance over time.
the official English forums for Anno 2070 can be found here: http://forums-de.ubi.c...forums/a/frm/f/3231027629
